Who do we think we are?

Way up here at Cadogan Towers, we have been setting our minds to finding unique and innovative ways of letting people know who we are and what we do.

And the results? Well, we now have our nifty new Cadogans pens in steel gray with bright Cadogans logo and “Expert Engineers” emblazoned across them.

Cadogan Pens

But that’s not nearly innovative enough, so we have acquired a supply of Cadogans logo spanner USB drives!

They really are a great idea. Not only can we use them to transfer information or backup important files, but we think our clients will love them. Most importantly, the spanners will make clients think of us when they use them!

As we expect great demand for the USB drive we have decided to give one to the person who makes the best comments about our new gear by 30th September 2014. Think of a good way of describing what you see above and write in the comments section or tweet a comment to #cadoganstuff

Scottish Independence: Keep calm and carry on

Clients and colleagues in the UK and outside will be delighted to know that the Scottish referendum - which you may have been observing with interest over the past few weeks - is now over. The people of Scotland have decided that they wish to remain part of the United Kingdom.  We are glad to say that it is business as usual today and for the foreseeable future.

Whilst outside the UK the perception may have been of rapid political change in Scotland, for us it has been part of a gradual political change ranging from the discovery of large oilfields in the North Sea; the articulation of political change through the 1980s; the creation of the Scottish parliament in 1999; and moving on now to further and greater devolution of decision making powers to Scotland. At Cadogans we hope Scotland continues as a source of some of the best graduates and highest quality engineering and technical expertise in the world.

Finally, we look forward to continuing to work hard to satisfy our clients requirements both in Scotland, throughout the UK and worldwide as part of our vision to be the foremost provider of expert technical opinion services.

Safety and all that CHAS

We are delighted to have received our new CHAS accreditation certificate through the post this morning (yes, we’re talking hard copy, not electronic - snail mail is still alive and well), but you may perhaps wonder what it is and why we would spend the time and effort that we have to gain the award.

The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme has been developed to reduce red tape in industry by ensuring that one expert assesses Health and Safety compliance within a potential supplier and then indicates approval so that there is no need to further demonstrate this when bidding for future projects with a variety of clients (It also satisfies the CDM Competency check Stage 1 - Appendix 4 of the Approved Code of Practice).

It is good for clients because it saves them time in assessing bids, but in addition to that, because it is assessed by Health and Safety experts, certification also helps the construction industry by enforcing Health and Safety rules consistently and fairly.

Not only is it great to see that Cadogans are fully compliant with all Health and Safety requirements, but its very encouraging to see that many in the construction industry are working hard to ensure that safety is at the heart of their business
