We are delighted to have received our new CHAS
accreditation certificate through the post this morning (yes, we’re talking hard copy, not electronic - snail
mail is still alive and well), but you may perhaps
wonder what it is and why we would spend the time and effort that we have to
gain the award.
The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme
has been developed to reduce red tape in industry by ensuring that one expert assesses Health and Safety compliance within a potential
supplier and then indicates approval so that there is no need to further demonstrate this
when bidding for future projects with a
variety of clients (It
also satisfies the CDM Competency check Stage 1 - Appendix 4 of the Approved Code of Practice).
It is good for clients because it saves them time
in assessing bids, but in addition to that, because it is assessed by Health
and Safety experts, certification also helps the construction industry by
enforcing Health and Safety rules consistently and fairly.
Not only is it great to see that Cadogans are fully
compliant with all Health and Safety requirements, but its very encouraging to
see that many in the construction industry are working hard to ensure that
safety is at the heart of their business
